The Strandberg Audio Sonora with fullrange driver with add-on tweeter that plays perfect with low-powered amplifier from 5W and above. Sonora is a classical designed high sensitivity speaker with the latest drive units technology. With focus on easy to drive, low distortion and non resonant technology. The goal is to make an uncomplicated sound that is easy to listen to that respond well to the smallest input signal. Drive units with extremely light cone that is easy to drive with a small amplifier and give high sensitivity. With low cone mass there will not go deep in small cabinet, so we make a larger cabinet. Then we will have deep clear un compressed natural bass with high sensitivity.
The elegant speaker design is on the inside. Sonora sharing the same DNA as the other Strandberg speaker. We just made it in a different way.
The cabinet is tuned to make a natural roll-off without any ringing in step response. Cabinet are made of thick MDF-board with internal damping pads for minimising cabinet material resonances. Cabinet is heavily braced to give stiff cabinet and the damping pads make in non resonant so the cabinet don’t store sound in the time domain. Natural wool is used for internal acoustic damping because it sond best and have a wider frequency damping of the internal sound. It is loose packed so we don’t store sound in the damping material. We use minimum damping material and apply it where it do the most use, in centre and middle of the cabinet were air speed is at it maximum. Then we can apply minimum damping material to achieve maximum damping of the internal sound.
The 1,5 way crossover with it minimum number of components is hardwired with high-end Mundorf capacitors and baked air coils to avoid any internal component and filter resonances. The result is perfect timing within the crossover and throughout the entire frequency range.
